VFW 914 remembers
Pearl Harbor 66 ~~ years later

 

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 914 “Intrepid’ and the American Merchant Marine Veterans of the Mon Valley again sponsored a Pearl Harbor Remembrance ceremony 12:55 p.m. in the Corporate Air Hanger at Allegheny County Airport Dec. 7. 

Featured speakers for this years’ event were United States Congressman Tim Murphy, Pennsylvania House of Representatives member William C. Kortz, II, Allegheny County Councilman Robert J. Macey and West Mifflin Mayor John Andzelik .  Also present were other area leaders and participation by many local veterans’ service organizations.  As in years past, Pearl Harbor survivor and West Millflin VFW Post 914 Life Member Bernard Ordos was recognized for his service and sacrifice.

Live music of patriotic songs were performed by the award-winning West Mifflin Area High School Titan Thunder Band.  The West Mifflin Area High School's Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Honor Guard was also on hand.
