PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE
December 7, 2005

Throughout history, there have been days, times and events that have had a lasting impact on the collective memory of our nation.  The bombing of Pearl  Harbor on December 7, 1941, is one of those days and it is not surprising that Americans still look back with shock and dismay on the attack and the tragic loss of life.  As President Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, it was “a day that will live in infamy.”

It is extremely important that we never forget the 2,335 servicemen and women who gave their lives that December morning in order to preserve our country’s principles.  Those brave individuals made the supreme sacrifice to ensure freedoms we cherish are never taken away from us.  Now, 64 years later in our nation’s battle against terror, we must remain vigilant to guarantee that the sacrifices of these warriors are not made in vain.  WE MUST NEVER TAKE OUR FREEDOM FOR GRANTED!
