Attended C.M. Schwab Vocational School and graduated from Homestead High School in 1940.   Enlisted in the US Navy and served in World War II and was honorably discharged.

Married Ann PUNDZAK in September 1945. Served as journeyman mason when first hired by US Steel in 1946 and then attained position as a full time mason.   First home was bought in Duquesne, PA (818 Oak) and lived there until 1959. Bought a home in West Mifflin PA (119 Helen) and lived there until his death.

Served for many years as a scoutmaster and committeman with the Boy Scouts of America.  Member of the Knights of Columbus #4210 West Mifflin. Member of AARP and served as president and board member.  Was a volunteer at the Willis Center Homestead PA for 16 years.
