In 1998 I was searching the Internet for any information that would concern West Mifflin, PA.  I noticed that through my searches I came up with some USEFUL and quite a bit of USELESS sites.  As I clicked through page after page of dead links and irrelevant material, it became very clear to me that on the Internet trying to find anything in West Mifflin would have to search through hundreds, if not thousands, of pages.  So, in July of that year, I applied for the domain name of www.15122.com hoping to join all this information together. 

The purpose of 15122.com is to provide Internet users an easily located one-stop spot to access anything and everything they would ever want to know about our borough and it's surrounding communities. To accomplish this, 15122.com needs to seamlessly integrate information contained in all of its individual web sites.

Yes, you hear it everywhere today.  It's the opening or closing comment in everyone's conversation or their advertising: "Check out our web site at www...."  The real truth is you can log onto anyone's website if you know their address.  Sure it's fun to have your own website, but there the real down side is that you're out there all alone.  STRENGTH IS IN NUMBERS!!!  As any fireman will tell you, when you work as a team you win.  You can accomplish something as an individual, but as a TEAM you have a better chance.

Plenty of times we get frustrated trying to figure out what is happening in the West Mifflin area.  If you're a member of the Lions Club, you know what they're doing, but if you're not, there's a pretty good chance you wouldn't know.  The same is with Borough Government and the School District, if you missed the article in the paper or don't have children in school to let you know about it you would never know.

While all the organizations and businesses in our area have good intentions, lacking any central clearinghouse to coordinate their activities, their impact is not as great as it could be if they all join forces.  As a member of a PORTAL however, any visitor to one part of it is exposed to the presence of the whole group.  The greater the exposure, the greater the chance people will visit any particular site.

What can you do? If you’re not a member, join us. If you’ve never visited the site, do so. Tell us what you think. If you like what you see, spread the word whenever and wherever you can. It’s your web site. Support it, and it will support you and your community. If your community or church group has NEWS ANNOUNCEMENTS to share please notify of us by EMAIL and we can post it here for you.  If your business has a website please send us your URL so we can LINK to you through our BUSINESS SECTION.  If you're a small business and can't afford $$$ to have a big expensive site, please contact us and we can set up an economical site for you telling the community about what you have to offer.

Times do change and more people spend more times on their computers. Big newspapers have their place on the web, but you have to search and search for any of those SMALL ARTICLES that you are looking for through rotating banners and the like. This site is a community newspaper for the area. 

 Why shouldn't West Mifflin and the area have a place to show itself off on the World Wide Web?
