My father was James Franklin Augustus,
my mother's side is Irwin. my
mother showed much of Indian blood dark
skin high cheek bones, as I do, I have a
feeling in my heart that I know must
come from Indian heritage. Nature, the
wind ,trees. Horses, all nature is my
comfort. It is so hard to find anyone to
share my feelings with. So I stay to
myself with my dog. She knows me, we
have been together for 15 years. I want
to touch thoughts with others like me.
My special name is Whisper. She comes to
me in my dreams.

Searching
for families ARENSBERG - MOORE - McMILLEN
- ARZBERGER all of Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania.
While
doing my family tree I stumbled on a mystery
I want to solve. In 1951 my
great-grandfather Moore first name may have
been Michael was murdered in his home on
Library Road in Bethel Park. It was believed
he was murdered over a patent. He was an
engineer/inventor who worked for the
government. The murder was never solved and
have not learned of any suspects. The house
was named "RED TILE INN". It
was a massive property and was torn down
about 20 years ago. family said in the 20's
the house had been a speakeasy.
Anyway
I would love to hear from anyone who knows
anything about the house or the family
members who lived there. They are ? Moore
Sr., Michael Moore son, Carrie (Arensberg)
Moore son's wife. their children Carolyn and
Michael and Carrie's son buddy. At the time
John & Edith Arensberg also lived in
this house.
The
McMillen line is Thomas C. McMillen his wife
Helen May (Artzberger) McMillen and their
children Edith Margaret & Thomas C. Jr.

Researching
Ackerman family
from Allegheny City in the 1800's. No vital records at
the county building because they were lost in the flood.
Does anyone know where I could find these records?
I know Christian & Barbara Ackerman (gggrandparents)
lived on River Ave. 8th ward in 1870. They had 3
children, John Christian, Sara and Nettie. Can only
find John Christian. He married Anna Louise Gaydel
and had three or four children, William, Bertha, John and
maybe Ellsworth. They also lived on River Ave.
Can only find William and Bertha. Lost Bertha after
1920 when she lived at 218 Ridgewood Ave in West View.
Any help greatly appreciated. Contact me at

I am seeking info. on the
"Alvin" family of Glassport or the surrounding area.
This family's name was originally "Alvino" but is
believed to have been changed to its present form on or about
the time of immigration. This family originated in southern
Italy near Salerno, likely in/around the village of Faiano.
Members of this line of the
Alvino family originally arriving from Italy at the turn of the
19th century include Lawrence, Ernest and William, however, it is
suspected that these may also have been Anglicized versions of
Italian first names.
It is known that William
"Bill" Alvin was an important physician in the
Pittsburgh area in the 20th century and was affiliated with the
Belleville General hospital. His own descendants may
have also pursued careers in the medical field and/or are
currently working as medical professionals in the Pittsburgh area.
My own line of this family
settled in Glassport in the first decade of the 20th century.
My grandfather, Enrico (Henry) was a barber who arrived in 1903;
his brother Guiseppe (Joseph) followed in 1907 and they may
have immigrated to join an uncle or cousin already
established in Pa., possibly one of the three Alvin's mentioned
above. This branch of the Alvin(o) family relocated to
southern New Jersey in the late 1920s.
My father, Ernest, is the
4th son of Henry and Elsie Alvino, also mentioned above. His
other brothers were Tom (dec.), Henry (dec.), Arthur (dec.),
David, Rudy (dec.), Joe, and Bert. His sisters were Anna (dec.),
Viola, Irene (dec.) and Gloria. He was about 10 years
old when his family moved to New Jersey and is now in his 80s.
He recalls fondly his years growing up in Glassport and
particularly his time as a student at the local grade school, but
his memory of his relatives (the Alvins) is less clear.
I am currently conducting
some research on my family history and am
interested in any accurate information on the Alvin or
Alvino families or instructions on how it might be obtained
through local records. I am grateful for any assistance the
readership can provide in bringing our family together again.
