need to fill in some missing links.
Thanks.

Searching more information
about my grandfather JOHN C. DIETERICH from Scott
Avenue Glenshaw Shaler township. He reportedly ( no
birth certificate available) was b 04/09/1872 in
Lawrenceville. He worked as "farm manager' for a large
farm on what is now Mount Royal Blvd. until he purchased
farm land on Scott Ave. @1898. He married Elizabeth
Shaw in 1898 and had 3 daughters. His dairy/vegetable farm -
"Oak Grove Farm" is survived by the original
homestead at the corner of Hamilton and Scott Avenues in
Glenshaw. He also was associated with the local School Board
in some capacity in period of 1920 - 1930"s.He died in
1943 and is buried in Mount Royal Cemetery. Family
history states that he added an "e" to his surname
to differentiate him from his father John C Dietrich.

I am looking for information on the Davies
family: Thomas B. Davies, Mary Lloyd Davies and children, Mary A.
Davies (Harding), Jane (Jennie) Davies (McGinty) (Johnston?) and
Thomas W. Davies (wife Bitner). They all came from Wales.
Jane Davies was married to Thomas McGinty. McGinty died in
1909 after falling from a boiler at the Mesta Machine Company.
Jane McGinty lived at this time on 8th Avenue with her daughter,
Hildagarde, and two boarders, Sofia and _____? Lutz. Thomas W.
Davies owned a Hotel at 513 Dickson Avenue. He was killed in a
fire at the hotel in 1923, along with a Mrs. Winnie and her three
children. I do not know the first name of his wife but her
last name was Bitner. His brother-in-law was named Edward
Bitner. I have no information on the mother and father, except
that they are buried in the Homestead Cemetery. Mary Lloyd
Davies died in 1905. I also have no idea what happened to
Jane. She supposedly remarried to a Johnston and had a second
daughter, Alice. She died around 1922 of maybe breast cancer.
I am the great great granddaughter of the original Davies. Any
information would be greatly appreciated.

I have an ancestor who died 26 Oct 1862
while serving in the Civil War. The National Archives widow's
pension file
indicated that the three of the children were at the of PA State
Soldier's Orphan School.
My ancestor was Joseph ADAMS; his wife was Mary Jane DIAS.
Would there be any record of that school. They were from Elizabeth
Township? I found the following source on the PA
usgenweb page for Allegheny County. Do you have a copy of this book,
and if so, is it available on inter-library loan?
Pennsylvania's Soldiers' Orphan Schools: Giving a Brief Account of
the Origin of the Late Civil War, the Rise and Progress of the
Orphan System...with Names of Pupils Subjoined. 2nd ed. Harrisburg:

I am William J. Snyder and currently live
near Vancouver, Washington. I am researching information on two
sets of Great Grandparents who lived in Allegheny County in the late
1800s. One great grandfather was William J. Snyder (Schneider)
who was postmaster in Rodi, PA in the late 1800s and early 1900s and
died in 1912. His wife, my great grandmother, was Susan Ritter
(1855-1909), daughter of Jacob and Clarissa Ritter of Penn Township.
The second set of great grandparents were James McWilliams (1852
to 1926) and Eliza Jane Dill (McWilliams) (1856 to 1956).
Both were raised and were married in Braddocks Field, PA. Great
Grandmother McWilliams was living in Tionesta, PA when she passed away
in 1956.
Any information that might be available on any of these families would
be
greatly appreciated.
